The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued an orange alert for Saurashtra and Kutch coasts in Gujarat as the cyclonic storm Biparjoy is set to cross the Jakhau Port in Gujarat by the evening of June 15 as 'very severe cyclonic storm' (VSCS).

Cyclone Biparjoy News Live: Movement of over 150 trains to be badly affected

    The railways has activated its disaster management set-up to minimize the impact of cyclone Biparjoy, which is likely to make landfall in Gujarat this week, officials said on Monday.
    The railways has identified vulnerable sections on its network, including Bhavnagar, Mahuva, Veraval to Porbandar, Okha to Hapa, and Gandhidham area.
    The train transportation has been affected badly because of cyclone. According to the railway authority movement of more then 150 trains was likely to be affected in the next three days.
    The trains between Rajkot-Okha, Rajkot-Veralva and RajkotMorbi have been suspended.
    The long distance trains will be terminated at Rajkot and Hapa stations while local trains have been cancelled.

Cyclone Biparjoy in Gujarat Live: Gujarat to evacuate people living within 10km from coast

    As cyclone Biparjoy approaches and is likely to make landfall near Jakhau port in the Kutch district off the Gujarat coast, evacuation efforts will pick up on Tuesday, with the government aiming to evacuate people within 10 km from the coast.
    Authorities in the coastal districts of Kutch, Porbandar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Junagadh, and Morbi have started the process of shifting those living near the coastline.
    Officials said thousands of people residing in areas within 10km from the shore will be moved to safer places from Tuesday.

    In the wake of the impending cyclone Biparjoy, Indian Railways have activated the disaster management room and also opened emergency control rooms in several districts of Gujarat to ensure smooth rail functioning.
